Crewe and Nantwich taxi drivers angry over market saturation

Taxi Drivers are furious and  are complaining that they are facing financial hardships as the are too many taxis with plates on the road, chasing the same business, and are in a situation where there are too many cabs chasing too few jobs.

Crewe and Nantwich Taxi Association is reporteed as saying that taxi drivers in its membership are finding things tough as the local authority, Cheshire East continues to dish out Hackney carriage taxi plates to an already over saturated market.

There are almost 150 drivers in Crewe and Nantwich, almost as much as nearby stoke, despite the stoke being almost three times as large as the two towns combined.

The Spokeman for the drivers thinks they are being sold out by the council who see it as an ewasy way to make money. At the moment if you have a vehicle suitable for disabled access, you are entitled to a hackney carriage taxi plate. So more and more taxis are fighting over the limited rank space in Crewe and Nantwich. Drivers insist the area is over saturated with drivers and people are loosing money as a result.
